The thing that sucks nowadays with things like the Wii and Rockband is the fact than anyone who thrown a virtual ball into a virtual cup thinks they're a gamer. Therefore I'm coming up with a list of things that make a gamer a REAL gamer. Here's what I have so far in no particular order:
1. You actually saved the stupid princes. 2. You completed the tri-force six times in three or more consoles. 3. You made Sepheroth your bitch. 4. You made Sin your bitch. 5. You actually knew who Sepheroth and Sin are. 6. You own games specifically designed for ONE player. 7. You've ever wondered which will give in first: the boss your fighting or your bladder. 8. You have a web sight bookmarked specifically for looking up walkthroughs. 9. You have multiple web sights bookmarked specifically for looking up walkthroughs. 10. If you know how to get 99 lives on level 2-1 on the original Mario Brothers. 11. You know elemental properties of spells bufu, agi, and zio from memory. 12. You knew exactly what I was talking about in number 11. 13. You own a game based on an anime, the game is crap, but you don't want to sell it because you like the anime. 14. You sold a game at game store, then a few days later went back and bought it again. 15. You own six or more different game consoles. 16. You own one or more games that would sell for over 100 dollars on E-bay. 17. You played a Wii party game and won every game without missing ever missing a shot, without even looking at the screen, on your first try. (yes I actually did this one) 18. You own a video game sound track that doesn't have the words Gaiter or rockband in the title. 19. You've written a fan fic based on a video game. (guilty) 20. You've written a pornographic fan fic based on a video game. (also guilty >.>") 21. You've gone to Blockbuster, or the equivalent, and couldn't find a game to rent because you've already beaten all the ones they have in stock. and last but not least: 22. If listening to someone who just picked up a Wii Mote for the first time and who just completed his/her PRACTICE party mini game call him/herself a gamer pisses you off to no end.
If you've done at least 50% or more of these things listed, you can call yourself a gamer, other wise f*** off.
I had more but it's late and I need to sleep. If you guys have anymore put them up.
Edit: OK here's some more I thought up.
23. You've ever created a list of things required for a person to be considered a gamer. 24. You've ever maxed out a games timer at 99 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds. 25. You've done it on more than one game or on the same game more than once. 26. You can name 10 or more final fantasy characters from memory. 27. You know what I talking about when I say up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right. 28. You can name one or more games that used the above code. 29. You've hummed the Mario brothers death music when someone failed horribly. 30. You've hummed the FF7 victory song and/or mimicked Cloud's victory pose when you succeeded at something. 31. You played the original Punch out on the original NES. 32. You've ever turned down a date, hanging out with your friends, and/or a family/class reunion just so you can play a game. 33. You can name the game that has these characters: Yukari, Junpei, Akihiko, Mitsuru, Ken, Koro-chan, and Aigus. 34. A video game character's death made you cry/want to cry. 35. You've ever debated which is better: Final Fantasy or Zelda. 36. You've ever had a dream where your one of the characters from one of the video games you've played.

I dunno, some of those are pretty strict for a 2/3 requirement. 1. Assuming you mean princess, then yes. 2. Let's see: Zelda 1 (NES), Zelda 2 (NES), Zelda – Link to the Past (SNES), OOT (N64); no. 3. Several times. Yes. 4. Fewer times, but still yes. 5. Who doesn't? Yes. 6. Absolutely, Yes. 7. I actually pause the game. No. 8. I actually don't. It's faster to do just a google search, than to hit up a bookmark, then type the game in, then click the most relevant of returned searches. No. 9. No. 10. The specific method escapes me; it's been years since I last played that game, and Mario 3 was always the one I would go back to for nostalgia sake. No. 11. Hehe, Yes. 12. Shin Megami series, Megaten series, and a half dozen other iterations, check. Yes. 13. Nope, I mean I have Goemon for N64, but I just don't typically sell games period, much less hold on to one because I like the anime. Er it did have an anime right? Eh, doesn't matter. No. 14. See 13, No. 15. Is this concurrently or over a period of time? Let's see: Atari, NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Gear, N64, Playstation, Playstation 2. I still have the broken Atari, N64, and PS2. Gameboy and Game Gear sold a long time ago. The NES, and SNES are at my sisters on a "sharing" system where she plays them a lot more than I ever do, but if I want them it's not hard to get at them. Since the question wasn't a past tense, probably no. 16. Honestly, I can't think of any I own that would. What, there's like Chrono Trigger and some kind of, I'm thinking, Panzer Dragoon that would potentially sell for that much that even come to mind. No 17. Never played with a wii console period. No. 18. Nope, never was big on sound track collections. Why pay $20-50 dollars for the game, then turn around and pay another $15 for the music you already have. That's what the internet is for... No. 19. Unless Megaman THH counts, no. 20. Nope, sorry, you're alone on this one. No 21. Was never that big on renting personally. So no. 22. Never played wii again. No. Score 7/22 Percentile: 31% Result: Time to go f*** off.

kehaul2.On question two it is assumed you beat the same game more than once. 7. so you've never had to go to the bathroom while fighting a boss and thought to yourself: "Eh I should be able to hold it in a little longer?"....serriously what kinda gamer are you tisk tisk tisk 10. It's actully a technec my sister taught me when I was like 8 yrs old. I used to think it was comon knowldge until I began asking gamers about it and suprisingly none had heard of it. Lets just say, it involves jumping on the turtles just coming down the steps just before the flag on world 2-1. 14. I once bought the game Starwars Battlefieds 2, played it for a month, sold it. And about a week later went back looking for a good shootem up game, saw it and thought "what the hell" and bought it again. I then sold it once again two months later and haven't owned it since. 15. Correction should have put own/owned so I'd give you that one. 18. Personally I'd count downloading sound tracks online so I'd give you that one two. 19. Yes This forum counts. 20. No, no I'm not alone the sight I posted it on had over six thousand story posts before the sight decided to ban and delete all the lemons on the sight. Afterwords they only had two thousand stories. >.> 22. Not you playing the Wii game, I meant the meer THOUGHT of this happening. Personally I'd say your more like 10 or 11 out of 22. I still think you should go f*** off, but that's for reasons entirely different than this post. ;D

2. Ah, misread it. I guess it's a yes then. I've actually beaten each game I listed twice I believe, which is 6+ triforce assemblies on 3 different consoles. 15. Ah, make that a yes then. 18. I've never actually downloaded a track, I just meant that if I wanted to, I'd just as quickly check youtube before putting $15 bucks into it. So going to have to keep it a no. 19. Really? That's more an RP than a fanfic, but hey, I'll take it. 22. Ah, well by extension, I've never seen someone else play a wii. Except just a tiny bit at one of those store displays they set up to show you how fun the console is and how you should totally buy it. Then again, I don't recall if I've seen a Wii set-up. Eh, still no. That brings me up to 10/22, or 45%. Let us see if I can redeem myself in the bonus round: 23. Sadly, no. I think you corner the market on this one... and that fanfic one you wrote about hot X on Zero action. No. 24. O god, I know I've actually passed 100 hours on some games with timers that didn't max. FF7, my primary save file with max levels, pumped up materias, wicked times on the snowboard mini game, etc. had 110 hours I believe. Of course it also required most of my characters to have 2 HP+ materia to max their HP at 9999, since I didn't know about the issue it had where it won't increase your base HP when you're decked out with HP+ materia and hit 9999hp early. Given the wording though, I'm going to have to say no on this one. No. 25. By extension of 24, no. 26. Uh, Cecil, Kain, Porom, Palom, Rydia, Locke, Terra, Cloud, Vincent, Barrett, Tifa, Aerith (Aeris), Red XIII, that fat guy no one likes. Shoot, my FF6 mental database crapped out on me. I could keep going with 8+, but I do believe that is the requisite 10. Yes. 27. Can't say I do. I recall one very similar to that that ended with either B, A, or A, B. I'm going to say yes though, and dock your score on the assumption that you forgot it. Yes. 28. That, I cannot. The BABY BY LARA cheat for Wing Commander is the only game I can remember ever using an input code outside game genie. No. 29. Nope sorry. No. 30. You're starting to creep me out here... No. 31. Nope, not even the sequel, sorry. No 32. That would require having friends outside of games. I should get two points here. But seriously, yes on "hanging out with friends". Bit. Yes. 33. Are you pulling these names from a hat? Ken, street Fighter, and... nope, that’s it for me. No. 34. I'm going to say yes, if only because I'm a horrible sap for sad music and would cry at anything even remotely sad that accompanies it. I'm drawing a blank on the name of a specific game, but I'm sure it happened somewhere. Yes. 35. Not really, they're two different genres and they never came up in the same conversation. No. 36. Usually my dreams are more inventive, involving an original world or events of some kind, usually set against the backdrop of a familiar place. I cannot say that I recall ever dreaming I was Cloud or *shudders* Vaan though. So no. 14/36, or 38% Crap, I backpedaled. Well congratulation you've won. Can't say I envy you though. Time to go F*** off again.

Just for the record, I haven't done ALL of these things listed...only about 2/3rds of them.
And yes, apparently you aren't a real gamer. I mean seriously what kinda gamer hasn't actully used the up down code at least once in their life or downloaded a sound track or played punch out. Dude I am so disapointed in you *shakes head while making tisk tisk sound*
Lets see, I'd give you half points for 24 and 25 since I orignally ment you not only played more than 100hrs on a game but you did so on a game old enough that the developers never even considered adding the 100 hour didget because they didn't think anyone would play it that long. aka FF7 which only went to the 99 hr number, or at least mine did.
as for number 33: Those are the main characters in Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3. Good game, I would recomend getting it, it's half dungen crawl half "date" simulator. Sounds wierd but it's actully pretty fun and it has decent voice acting and a good story line. Persona 4 is also out and it's just as good if not better than 3. PS the games are for the PS2
By the way, can't you think of any gamer related things to add to the list?

SMT Persona 3, I passed on the one specifically because it was part dungeon crawler. Dungeon crawlers just aren't my thing, going all the way back to the old D&D games and their many knocks offs. (That and the combat mechanics of the megami series in general never agreed with me.) I prefer my RPG's to have static, one-time dungeons, mostly linear game play; but without all that "Oops, a cart tipped over on the bridge, and the cave entrance collapsed, you better stay in town, OBTW, there's a forest of death you could go through too!"
For FF7, I had the PC version, not sure about the PS version but I'm pretty sure the PC version didn't max at 100 hours.
Nope, I'm more into RPG's than gaming in general. I could make a "What is a True RPG Player" List, but a generalized gamer list, not so much. Heck, most of the questions I answered yes for were RPG related: 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 24, 26, and probably 34.

Well, I'd still recomend at least trying Persona 4 it's less dungen crawl heavy and more storyline driven than P3.

.... lesee....... 80%? ish? i own every Nintendo console, I've beaten every legend of Zelda at least 3 times, (except for 4 swords, can find players for that one) i clocked in about 200 hours on FF5 maxing out ALL the jobs, does ripping the soundtrack form the game CD/DvD itself count? if so yes, can kick most people at SSBM with the wiimote, konami code for the win,.... etc etc etc.
oh, and here is another one: Have ever played a game that most people have no idea exists have ever beaten one of the "classics" more than one time

My favorite part of the Persona games has to be the whole "shooting self in head" aspect. It really never gets old.

Lol that's actually what got me into the game in the first place actually ;D. I saw an article in a gaming magazine stating that persona 3 would be rated M because of the whole shotting self in head thing and how some parents groups were trying to get the game blocked from coming to the US.
Well after reading that parents groups hated it I just knew I had to give the game a try and it turned out to be a pretty fun game.

Well, I'd still recomend at least trying Persona 4 it's less dungen crawl heavy and more storyline driven than P3. Eh, maybe if I see it at a good price. Thought I really don't see persona games, and Atlus games in general seem to almost disappear if you don't get them as a new release, or spend the time and energy to track one down. Incidentally, the uh... spell check button still works.
