Alter kicked at some sand. The hovering drone emitted a glissando whine, seeming to ask "what the hell is going on here?"

As everyone moved forward through the sand they slowly made way forward, everyone taking their own precautions to keep their tracks clean slowed them down a bit. Also the fact that fallout every now and then decide to make a sand farry out of boredom and to annoy other people because he could.
Finally after a few hours traveling both teams found themself seeing the city and each other. As team B (Exiam team as in Gen, Alan, Trina and Exiam) noticed Team A silently moving forward towards the city. Exiam himself kneeled down grabbing his binoculars looking out over the half burried city as he wondered what happened to the recon team. The city itself seemed deserted even tough the shield was still active, he wondered why Neo Arcadia hadnt gone in and just taken over the place. Exia shrugged and then noticed Team A assembling below as he looked back at his team pointing down with the few simple words. "I suggest we group up with them.." he slowly began sliding down the sandhill as he made his way down trying not to break himself.
Team A arriving at the rendevouz point at the bottom of the sand dune team B is on, Blaze silently gave some orders, he would have Akiko try get a visual on the recon team and gain some altitude to get some intell on the base and he wanted Alter to deploy the cloaking field so that atleast for now they would be safe from attacks.

The rest of the trip went remarkably quiet considering the previous excitement. Thanks to the delay caused by battle, as well as the increased difficulty of travel due to the sand storm that had kicked up for several hour, the sun began to rise well before the two groups reached the city. The cold of night quickly gave way to the heat of the day, and soon only those who were built for intense heat were unaffected.
As they arrived at the city, it appeared much as it did in the reckon photo, plus or minus a sand dune here or there. From this angle however, they could see that sand had risen over the ten meter wall that had surrounded the city and provided the base for the shielding making it possible to actually walk over it rather than having to search for an entrance.
In the center of the city, the obelisk that had once projected the city's shielding still stood tall, although a careful observer could see that it was now leaning at an angle of a few degrees toward the north. Sparks could still be seen shooting from the tip as it was apparently still attempting to fulfill it's age old purpose of protecting the city. Some would be surprised that there was still power flowing through the obelisk, however if they had read the history of the city in the mission review they would know that it was powered by an underground thermal energy source that would probably continue to pump out power for the next few hundred years or until the obelisk itself finally fell over.
As the two groups merged just outside the city, Blaze looked amoungst the remaining group members.
"All right, things haven't exactly gone as planed," Blaze mumbled loud enough for everyone to here, then cleared his throat and spoke clearly, "It's already be stated, but let me remind everyone once again. The EM Being given off by that tower over there is going to make everything but short range communications impossible. Also, don't forget, the NA's got com scanners set up around this city, so long range communication with home base is off limits unless absolutely necessary. Same goes for transporting as well."
Certain everyone remembered this, Blaze continued, "Right first things first. Our primary mission is to locate the reckon team, secondary is to find out whether the rumors of the resistance force being located here is true. It's a big city and searching block by block will take way too long. So, does anyone have any suggestions on how or where to start?" Though the last question was addressed to everyone, Blaze's eyes instinctively looked in the direction of the more....intelectual members of the the group.
Meanwhile, Fallout continued to stand quietly as one set of eyes flicked over the city and the other set glared down at rest of the party. He had been unusually quiet during this trip, despite all the things he wanted to say about all the sand finding it's way into his joints despite having been throughly sealed before leaving. There was a reason for his quietness however, his system wasn't specifically designed to handle the heat of the desert and thus his systems required constant supervision to prevent over heating from the massive heat build up from both internal and external sources. Snarling and growling like he normally did would serve to do nothing but to heat up his systems even quicker.
Inside of Fallout's head a heat indicator came on warning of potential over heating. In response, small vents along his torso opened as a blast of scolding hot air shot out, to the dismay of any who may have been to close at that particular moment, and at the same time the slightly cooler outside air was sucked in. This lasted only for a moment or two before the slits closed once more.

Alter gave an involuntary "Gaah!" as he was blown off his feet by the sudden blast of air from Fallout's vents. The little stealth drone followed him in his sideways course, which came to an abrupt halt as he smacked into a sand-etched wall and slumped to the ground. The ancient Reploid did not move. The hover drone circled around to hover over the crumpled scientist - if it had eyes, it would probably be regarding him with a mixture of concern and amusement. The thing was really quite expressive for a faceless sand-toned mechaniloid. Alter remained unconscious. (OOC: He'll wake up again when I get back from vacation. Please haul his body with y'all for the time being. )

Akiko, still short as ever and proud of it, kept up easily with the group. Her time spent hovering mostly above Tempest, gracing him with love and affection in the form of three whole inches of shade. His no doubt immense and unpronounced joy aside; it was a fun little game that passed the time.
On the other end of her attention radar, Blaze was unusually quiet. It seemed he took quite nicely to the stout and quiet leader role, though it didn't really suit him, at least not in her eyes.
She showed little interest in the others, apart from a casual glance. Ensuring no one had comically lost their footing, gorged on a face full of dirt, and promptly spat it out to try and save face. Sadly, there had been no takers, at least not yet. Though hope remained as long as the sand did, and there sure was plenty of that grainy substance lying about...
Yet her wandering mind was quickly brought back to attention by the unannounced, but greatly appreciated sauna blast. As the air playfully tickled her feet at first, she managed to feign modesty as her heat-resistant skirt was soon blasted upwards, followed quickly by the rest of her as she was caught in the sudden updraft. An audible word, clearly a curse by the way she spoke, escaped her lips even as her wings collapsed automatically. All further noises were quickly reduced to muffled gibberish as half her length was shot headfirst into the nearest dune.
Giggling slightly at first, she broke out in full riotous laughter beneath the sand. Unable to fully control the exhilarating rush at first, an all too silly mental image of Fallout came to mind. The big lug all gussied up in robes and makeup, waving people into a sauna, and grunting for added effect as he kept the place heated. Ahh, to have a solid career opportunity as a steam heater someday...
She found herself unable to stifle the giggling long enough to gurgle out anything meaningful from beneath the dune. Her legs bent, toes rhythmically clawing at the sand; simulating the motions of a rat that had gotten its head stuck in a crack. Though the effort had little effect, as the grains of sand offered little in the way of traction.

Shaking his head, Tempest picked Akiko up out of the sand, rasing her to eye level.
"Now may not be the time for levity."
Placing her on his shoulder, (though he was still wary due to her actions before arriving...) he turned to Blaze.
"A suggestion? We find a spot here that will surfice as a base. That getting done, we send out a few scouts to begin the search. Akiko works fine as she's hard to spot, even uncloaked."
"I myself am quite interested in finishing up as I have a date with the brig once this is over", said the ninja making sure Blaze didn't forget about him breaking protocol beforehand.
"And in all honesty if Fallout's going to shoot me, i'd perfer to do it in confined quaters. Now you're the leader, so choose. We'll be good with whatever.
Age didn't nesscessarily mean grace, as Tempest had found himself speaking as if he were in his youth at times. Shrugging (and making the 3-inch fairy on his shoulder bounce by doing so), Tempest gently picked Alter up and placed him in a fireman's carry.
(OOC: Any funny business Ms. Sparkles and off ya go.)

Sokuren, fortunately out of range of fallout's heat blast. did a quick scan on Alter's unconscious body, but detecting no serious problems, he decided to leave well enough alone. As he looked around, mostly unaffected by the heat due to the heat reflecting cloak he was wearing, he moved his arm out of the cloak, and pressed a button near the crystal on his wrist, a holographic image was projected by said crystal, taking a quick inventory of the display, we walked over to blaze and quietly said
" I brought along enough materials to make a scanner that should be able to scan for the recon team in these conditions, but it will be fairly short ranged, and i only have enough to build one, i can build it in about an hour, two tops. what are your orders?"

Alter, groggy, came to himself once again to find himself being carried on somebody's shoulders. Oh Lord, he thought to himself, this couldn't get much more embarassing. Then he noticed that the three-inch fairy think was perched on his flank somewhere, and just about died. The stealth drone taunted him from its place near his face, and he glared at it.
Not sure quite how to go about doing this, Alter cleared his throat. "Ah, whoever is carrying me - I'm sorry to say I don't know who, given the way I'm facing - you can put me down. I'm alright now." If he had ever been able to blush, he had obviously disabled the ability long ago.

"Hm? Oh, very well Doctor."
Tempest softly placed Alter on his feet and Akiko, back on his shoulder, (noting that she could really move when properly motivated...).
"Good, it would have been troublesome if I had to fight and carry you. Not impossible, just troublesome. Now Blaze is asking for suggestions on how to proceed. I have suggested finding a makeshift base and beginning the recon, Sokuren plans on making a scanning device that should function despite the EMP leak. Your thoughts?"

Alter looked around the city, the bleak black sand-buffed walls towering on all sides. Open windows framed with broken glass gaped like saw-toothed onlookers, and the stinging winds conspired with the cloudless burning sky to blind the sensitive among the onlookers. Alter took a pace or two down the cracked, sun-baked asphalt that had once been a main road, with once-soaring light fixtures broken and bent, half-buried in sand in most places. The desolation was perfect, without even desert life to break the stillness of this sandy tomb. "Well," began Alter, scanning the area with thermal imaging, "I'm not surprised to say that thermals aren't doing me any good. Everything's bright red from absorbed sunlight; I can't even see the leaking reactor with all the background noise. If Sokuren can build a better scanner he's welcome to do it, but I'm not sure just what we can scan for out here... With all the steel around here to deflect signals, I don't think these desert ghosts are likely to have left themselves exposed."
The stealth drone followed Alter obediently, keeping quiet somewhere behind his left elbow as the doctor mused on their possibilities. "I think we should head for city center and make camp in a repair depot or other useful locale, then send out scouts while Sokuren works on his scanner." The heat mirages over the grey ribbon of asphalt wavered in the sunlight, marking the long trail into the heart of the city.

Blaze shielded his visor as the wind began picking up once again throwing sand into the air.
"Alright let's see," Blaze said pulling out an oval shaped device and activating it causing a small holographic map that flickered heavily due to the radiation of the obelisk to appear in the air. Pressing one of the sectors on the map the image seemed to zoom in to that area. "Assuming it hasn't been covered up, there's an old police station near the center of the city around here that would make a decent HQ. Once we're set up, Sokuren can work on his scanner device while the rest of us search the immediate area, as it would be best to wait for the heat and wind to subside before we venture out much further."
"Alright," Blaze said putting the device away and heading for the city," Let's move out. The sooner we finish this job the sooner we can get out of here."

"Agreed."
Tempest kicked on his boosters, in the city the EMP leak covers his doing so and cloaks. He intention to look over the group as they move, for some odd reason he felt as though he was being watched.....
"I HATE that feeling..."

She sat and listened, quietly, attentively, eerily so. As if the earlier collision with the sandy dune had knocked something loose. Or more accurately, had knocked something loose back in.
She should have loved every minute of traveling atop his shapely shoulder, riding him physically if not spiritually. Soaking up the intimate contact, fighting the guttural urge to scream out and wail at the maximum capacity of her tiny artificial lungs. Entranced as each step he took bounced her upwards, only to be followed by the inevitable and saddening force of gravity that drug her back down. To admire the way he moved and spoke, and then some.
Yet she found it easier to silently applaud their commander. For taking matters back into his own hands, for ending all discussions and debate, selecting their goal and the actions needed to reach it.
Paying heed one last time at the one who had unearthed her from the tomb of dirt, she returned his past favor with an indifferent smile as he went on his way, and she her own. Kicking off, tossing her head back and forth to shake the loose sand free, and wiggling tiny fingers through her lava locks to brush the last of the dirt free. Quickly and effectively her heat absorption level increased. Generator output lowered, the often bothersome hotspot fading with the once minor hum it emitted.
Batteries brimmed at their capacity. This arid region was her arena, and it was long past time to show it. An ethereal, shapeless, soundless, and damn near invisible visage slowly rose towards the sky above, the warm air her wings, the sky her bitch.
